This is a guest post on how to distract your kids when working from home by Jade Waddy.

Those who work from home can sometimes find it a bit hard to get the job done when there are perky kids running around the house How To Distract Your Kids When Working From Homecausing all sorts of chaos.

It can certainly test your patience at times, but there are a few things you can consider doing that can help you to keep them distracted or entertained long enough for you to do what you need to do in regards to work.

So with that said, here are some of the more common and simple ways to keep both you and the kids as happy as Larry.

Turn It Into A Game

Children love to play little games to keep them on their toes, and it can be just the ticket if you need them to be quiet for a while.

You could do simple things like getting them to draw some pictures or playing hide and seek with each other.

You could however get a bit more creative with it by coming up with a unique game that requires them to either do something for an extended period or something that requires them to look for several hidden objects.

You could hide some chocolate coins in random areas of the house and tell them to find them all, but they must find all of them before they can eat them.

Use Technology

As much as we hate to admit it, technology has worked wonders for many years when it comes to keeping children out of trouble, and it can keep them amused for very long periods of time.

Television is probably the most popular choice as more and more kids programs are becoming more informative and educational, so they wouldn’t just be staring at a screen.

There are also things like DVDs and games consoles like the Xbox and Playstation.

Some games require a lot of focus and skill, and there are plenty of puzzle games they can enjoy. There is also the use of computers and the internet, providing you are able to set limits and restrictions before they use it.

Get A Helping Hand

This doesn’t strictly mean a nanny here as you may have friends or family that are available to help you on a regular basis.

However, if you find that your only choice is to pay someone there are many people out there who can give you some help such as a baby sitter.

Be sure to have a look around to find the right person as not only do the kids have to get along with them, but you also need to bare your budget in mind.

They normally pay by the hour, and some are specifically registered to look after young children. Always interview them first before letting them do their thing as this gives you a chance to get to know them a bit better.
