declutterToday I will share the last change I want to make in 2015. I have many changes I would like to make but I have shared with you just three that I think are relevant especially on my journey to becoming a Super Working Mum.

You can read change 1 and change 2 by clicking the links.

I encourage you to do this exercise and write it in your journal if you use one, or in a blog post if you are brave enough to share with your audience.

By sharing these changes I want to make next year, I hope you will learn one or two things from them. And I hope it inspires you to think and write down your changes for next year.

Third change I will make in 2015: I will declutter.

Growing up, I seem to thrive on being in a chaotic disorganised environment. Scattered was my middle name. I never could find my things and during exams I slept on my piles of books and paper. It was a mess I can assure you but it didn’t bother me….till recently.

Clutter is the enemy of creativity. Clutter stops you from performing at your best. Have you noticed when everything is in order you feel more at peace and ready to perform but when everything is a mess it weighs you down. Or is that just me?

I know some people who seem to do well in a disorganised environment but it really isn’t working for me anymore so I know this has to change in the New year.

Time is saved when everything is where they should be and you are not endlessly searching for your keys or a pair of child’s shoes every morning.  Time is saved when you are not going through your inbox to look for one email you need.

I started the decluttering process about two years ago but I have not been consistent or intentional about it. It is time to get more ruthless about decluttering.

I don’t want clutter to impede my creativity and sanity anymore.

  • I will get rid of things we do not need anymore in the home
  • I will unsubscribe from newsletters that do not serve me
  • I will go through my wardrobe and give out clothes and shoes I don’t use anymore
  • I will open my letters, file them accordingly and bin those I don’t need
  • I will have a designated place for everything
  • I will do more brain dumping on paper and stop cluttering my mind with all sorts of issues
  • I will let go and Let God

This change is most likely going to be the hardest of all for me, as my mindset and habits need to change, processes need to be put in place. Hopefully by this time next year I will be able to report that I am in a better state than I was when I wrote this post 🙂

As I write out these three changes, I must admit I feel afraid, like can I really make these changes but I know it is just the mind monkeys talking to me. It will take effort, commitment and staying accountable on my part to do these changes but I know I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. First step is awareness, and now I will intentionally set out to make these changes.

So what changes will you be making in 2015? Do share in the comment section.
