Deeper Intimacy with Jesus through praying with our five senses.
At the retreat, Amanda will be sharing with us how to experience deeper intimacy with Jesus through praying with our five senses. Amanda believes that we can have a deeper and more meaningful prayer life if we are deliberate about using our five senses when we pray.
We can live a more purposeful life, one that is filled with gratitude and awe of Jesus if we learn how to pray with our five senses and include Him in everything
We would look at each sense individually and learn how we can pray with each sense and then we would look at them collectively and learn how we can pray using all five senses with simple and effective prayers.
Brief Topic Introductions
Sight – Praying with our sense of sight will include physical (what we can actually see in the natural) and spiritual (what God shows in the supernatural e.g. Dreams and Visions).
Sound – Praying with our sense of sound will include speaking to God with words, worship, but also hearing from God (how do we hear Gods speak to us? Prayer is a two way communication).
Touch – Praying with our sense of touch will include what we can feel and touch but it also includes using our hands to pray by activating out creativity – draw, write, make, feel etc.
Taste – Praying with our sense of taste will include what we eat in the natural, but why did the psalmist say ‘taste and see that the Lord is good’? We would also look at the importance of communion.
Smell – Praying through our sense of smell will include what we can smell and how that connects us to Jesus. Why was Jesus given essential oils (Frankincense and Myrrh) at His birth? Why did God create scents in nature?
By looking at practical ways to engage and activate all or some of our five senses when we pray will help us build a deeper intimacy with God.
This is one session not to be missed!
